FULL DAY WORKSHOPS | $85 + HST (ONE 6 HOUR CLASS ON A SATURDAY OR SUNDAY)
Learn the basics of indigo vat dyeing during this one day intensive workshop with natural Dyer Renata Britez. Using the 3 traditional Japanese resist techniques of Kumo, Arashi and Itajime. Participants will create bold patterns on fabric using wooden blocks as well as binding and wrapping techniques. Participants will come away with an understanding of the 3 Japanese techniques and leave with sample swatches in various sustainable fibres and a finished scarf with a pattern created in class. They will also receive informational handouts on how to repeat the process at home. No experience is necessary.
MATERIAL COST: $60.00 to be paid to the instructor on the day of the workshop.
Instructor – Renata Britez
Renata Britez is mixed media artist originally from Brazil and currently Based in Fredericton NB, Canada. She graduated with a Textile Design Diploma from the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design (NBCCD). Her previous experience working in the graphic design industry and her interest in pattern design lead her to follow the path of surface design. Her goal is to explore traditional printing methods such as block printing, shibori dyeing, and screen-printing using natural dyes and fibres.

What's the refund policy?
Attendees can receive full refunds up to 7 days before your events start date. After that, a special request will need to be made to the organizer.
Upon cancellation of the workshops due to low enrolment or extenuating circumstance a refund will be granted, Eventbrite will retain processing fees. If a course is cancelled due to poor weather conditions the course will be rescheduled to the best of our abilities.
