Mugmats, or coasters are a fantastic way to brighten up your coffee table with your own unique flare. In this workshop we’ll be taking your favourite scraps of fabric, that are just too pretty to let go, and putting them to use by crafting one of a kind coasters. We will learn how to piece together your fabrics crazy quilt style, then chose a coaster shape, and finally layer and bind the edges; just like making a quilt only much smaller and much quicker.

MATERIAL COST: 5$ ??to be paid to the instructor on the day of the workshop. Please note: Participants are required to bring small sewing kit: scissors, pins. As well as some favourite fabric scraps.

Instructor – Cat Candow

Cat Candow, was raised in Germany under her grandmothers sewing table. Cat took her first stitches around age 3, attempting to make a pair of pants for her Teddy. She learned to read and write and at the same time learned crochet and cross stitch, but with much more enthusiasm. She moved to Canada as an exchange student and stayed to complete her Diploma in Fashion Design from the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design (NBCCD). She spent 3 years in England, making theater costumes for a living. Since returning to Canada, Cat has spent the last decade doing all kinds of sewing alterations, mostly rescuing brides from ill-fitting dress disasters.
