Tuesdays from 6:00pm - 9:00pm Starting October 15

Quilting is an art form that stretches through time. Join Cat Candow in discovering the beautiful, cooky, and funky art of Victorian style crazy quilting! In this 7 week course, participants will start by creating the foundation fabric, then really make it fun by adding a personal theme or incorporating sentimental fabrics, trims and notions. You will learn a wide range of historic and modern embellishing techniques and add them one by one to your cloth, documenting both what you have learned and adding your personal touches as you go. Participants will be able to take home a finished project, or continue adding to their work of art that is sure to be passed down for generations to come.

MATERIAL COST: $20.00 to be paid to the instructor on the day of the workshop.

Please Note: Participants are required to bring a sewing machine from home that is in good working order, as well as a small sewing kit. (Scissors, Pins)

Instructor – Cat Candow

Cat Candow, raised in Germany under her grandmothers sewing table, Cat took her first stitches around age 3, attempting to make pants for her Teddy. She learned to read and write at the same time she learned crochet and cross stitch, but with much more enthusiasm. She moved to Canada as an exchange student and stayed to complete her Diploma in Fashion Design from the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design (NBCCD). She spent 3 years in England, making theatre costumes for a living. Since returning to Canada, Cat has spent the last decade doing all kinds of sewing alterations, mostly rescuing brides from ill-fitting dress disasters.
