Description

ONE FULL DAY AND ONE HALF DAY WORKSHOPS |$105.00 + HST (ONE 6 HOUR CLASS ON A SATURDAY AND ONE 3 HOUR CLASS THE FOLLOWING SATURDAY)

Have you ever wanted to muddy your hands in an introduction to pottery workshop? Come create in the mud with Tomo, in this hand-building workshop where we will focus on decoration and design, to create boxes, plates, bowls and cups of various shapes, and sizes. Without the frustration of learning on the wheel, participants will be taught to use various techniques; pinching, slab building, and slumping clay over and into moulds. Textiles, leaves, stamps and textured rolling pins will help us decorate the pieces. The first day will be spent building pieces while the second half day will be spent glazing the projects.

MATERIAL COST: $35.00 to be paid to the instructor on the day of the workshop.

Instructor – Tomo Ingalls

Tomo was born and raised in Japan. She received a BA degree in Policy Science from Ritsumeikan University, Kyoto Japan in 1999. She kindled her attraction towards clay while she was in university in Japan by joining the ceramics club. She has been living in New Brunswick since 2001. Her first serious clay training started in 2014 when she lived in Ottawa for a year. She learned from John Ikeda and Caroline Trudeau at the Gloucester Pottery School in Ottawa. She loved it so much that when she came back to Fredericton in 2015, she enrolled in the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design (NBCCD). She has learned from Peter Thomas, Melissa Leblanc, and Nancy Blanchard-MacDonald. She enjoys the unlimited possibilities and wonder that clay offers.
