7 WEEK COURSE   | INCLUDES TWO HOUR CLASS ONCE PER WEEK FOR 7 WEEKS

Thursdays 6 PM – 8 PM | Starts February 17

In this upbeat introductory jewellery-making workshop, you will learn to work silver and copper to make a beautiful bracelet, earrings and band rings. You will be introduced to basic benchwork techniques such as sawing, filing, sanding and you will learn to solder. From the first cut of the metal to the finished polish, these one-of-a-kind pieces will be created by you.

Materials: Estimated cost for the student will be between $40.00 - $75.00, depending on the thickness and size of the sterling silver. Some base metal, brass and copper, flux, solder, and saw-blades, will be provided.

The instructor:

Jo Haley is an artist and goldsmith, who lives and works in Fredericton, NB. Haley typically focuses on a wide range of works made up of precious metals and fine gemstones. Themes of work revolve around the fragility of nature, and folklore. She graduated from the Jewellery/Metal Arts Diploma program at NBCCD, following her completion of Foundation Visual Arts certificate program. After the Foundation Certificate, Diploma in Fine Craft / Jewellery / Metals Arts, she completed the Advanced Studio Practice Diploma Program in 2021. Haley is a recipient of numerous awards, including: ArtsNB scholarship, Sheila Hugh MacKay Foundation Merit Bursary, and Craft East’s Heather Stone Emerging Artist Award in 2020.
