FIVE DAY COURSES | $325 + HST
Ever wanted to learn to spin? Now’s your chance! Learn all about how to use a spinning wheel to spin different fibers & make and design your own beautiful handspun yarns. You’ll get lots of practice on spinning wheels, as well as learn how to dye fiber, blend colours and different materials, and various ways to prepare your fiber to make custom yarns. No prior experience necessary. Spinning wheels are provided.
Materials fee: $25 payable to the instructor the day of the course plus expect to spend a minimum of $30 for materials from the College store.
Instructor: Rachel MacGillivray
Rachel A. MacGillivray studied Fashion Design at Ryerson University and, after working in the industry in Toronto, she moved to New Brunswick to follow her love of textiles. She completed her Textile Diploma & Advanced Studio Practice (ASP) Certificate at the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design (NBCCD). Rachel has won multiple national competitions, scholarships, and awards and has had her work shown in museums internationally. Primarily now a spinner, knitter, and wool enthusiast, Rachel also uses textile techniques such as knitting, embroidery, quilting, garment making, and image transfer in her work to explore themes of memory and community. Currently, she’s pursuing her arts practice and instructing at the New Brunswick College of Craft & Design.
What do I need to bring to the course?
Please check the description above for material fee and additional items to bring. Material fee will need to be in cash to be paid to the instructor the day of the course.
What's the refund policy?
In the event that a course is cancelled a 100% refund will be granted to the participant.
Upon request of a refund participants will receive a 100% refund (minus the Eventbrite fees approx. 6% of the sale) until 7 days before the course.
7 - 2 days a special request must be made to the Edventures Coordinator, and a 50% refund will be granted.
Refunds will not be given if requested within 48 hours of the course beginning.
